Mobility innovation covers a range of fields: the vehicles themselves, electric or hydrogen-based powertrains, autonomous driving, and so on. “Companies working on these innovations need a place where they can test them literally on the roads,” says Joost Ortjens, Head of International Business Development – Automotive at Luxinnovation. “Luxembourg welcomes mobility innovators.”

A good place to start mobility innovation

The country is home to a diverse and connected ecosystem of large corporates, start-ups and research laboratories. “There is a very healthy automotive ecosystem here,” confirms Nadine Kintscher, Centred Design at tyre manufacturer Goodyear which has one of its two world-wide innovation centres in Luxembourg.

“It is a very good place to start something new.”

Start-ups also find a fertile ground for their ideas here. “All our projects, prototypes and proofs of concept have been developed and launched in Luxembourg together with Luxembourg companies, says German Castignani, CEO and co-founder of start-up Motion-S which develops a platform for analysing data emitted by connected vehicles. “It is a very good place to start something new.”
